Comments about GFI Furniture Barcelona Dark Oak Sideboard with Frosted Glass Doors:

I received my order yesterday from another store. The actual unit is much darker than ALL the pics shown on the internet; it's more like black than dark brown. The surface is not a laminate; it's a woodgrain surface that is stained. The frost on the glass can be wiped off. I cleaned it with a damp paper towel, and some of the frost came off, leaving streaks. At first I thought it was just because it was wet, but no, it looked like that after a long time. Then I tried to smooth out the streaks with wiping it with a dry cloth in circular motion, but the streaks remained. The unit is very heavy though... Seems like good solid construction, and the adjustable shelves sit on top of metal pegs that you screw into the sides of the cabinet, not the cheap plastic ones. The cabinet doors come with adjustable hinges, but they have no plastic stopper to prevent the door from banging against the cabinet, and you can't put one in either because then the doors wouldn't sit flush against the rest of the cabinet. The drawers are just regular drawers, not self closing, and I can't seem to remove them from the cabinet. On the underside of each drawer, there is a reinforcing piece of wood that run in the center down the depth of the drawer, so you can put heavy things inside the drawer without worrying about the bottom sagging. I'm o.k. with what I got; just not too happy about the dark dark color....it looks black.
